I've searched this forum and Google and it looks like a lot of nonspecific commentary pops up. Much of it is opinion based on what others have said and not use or ownership.
The Hatfield 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun runs via a unique gas/inertia operating system that uses a gas piston to kick the bolt to send it rearward with inertia. This free floating inertia action creates less friction since the bolt is not connected to a heavy bolt carriage and action arms thus allowing the SAS to function dependably with light ...The Hatfield SAS uses a unique operating system that blends gas and inertia. With fewer moving parts, this 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun from the Hatfield Gun Company functions more reliably than one that functions through gas or inertia alone. The gas piston moves a single inch, which then kicks the bolt rearward to start the operating cycle.This Hatfield over/under is chambered in .410 and features 28” vent rib chrome-lined barrels. This particular model features an Hiv-viz front sight, single selective trigger, extractors, and custom checkering on the stock and fore-end with a solid rubber recoil pad. This shotgun features a black chrome metal finish, chambered 2 ½” and 3” magnum with 5 screw-in chokes.Hatfield semi-automatic shotguns can reliably cycle most 2-3/4 inches and 3 inches magnum shotgun shells. However, not all shotgun shells are made the same and only new factory ammunition of a recognized quality brand should be used to insure proper cycling. The SAS (their current semi-auto) appears quite similar in looks to the Hatsan Escort series.
